Black & White
November 28, 2018
I've been wanting to do some concepts in pure black and white for a while now.

RIP, Stan Lee
November 14, 2018
When I heard Stan Lee had passed I decided to revisit an old sketch I had started of my favorite Stan Lee superhero, Silver Surfer. Like many creatives, Stan's characters were a big inspiration to me. I may continue to flesh this out until I can make a print out of it. It was hard to pick a quote because he has so many good ones.

Big Hero 6 - GoGo Animation
July 23, 2018
Now that the Big Hero 6 episode "Mr. Sparkles Loses His Sparkle" has aired, I can share this brief head turn I in-betweened for GoGo. It was fun to think about how her hair should rotate. I love the style of this show and was super excited to work on it.

Caelith Doodles
December 27, 2017

So after working on Season 1 of Big Mouth while at Titmouse, I am now employed at Walt Disney Television Animation as a Technical Director! The job has been exciting, and I get to do most of my work in my favorite program - Toon Boom Harmony. At the same time, I haven't stopped working on my personal projects. Here are some sketches of Caelith that I didn't hate too much, as I try to get more familiar with her helmet and filter tube. Her Toon Boom rig has slowed down recently while my wife and I try to wrap our heads around using Javascript for the new Toon Boom Master Controllers. I did recently finish adding 40 drawing swaps for her hands though, at different positions and angles.

Wishling Revisited
July 21, 2017
A new take I've been wanting to do on the
Toon Boom Wishling concept. Not sure why I love exploding eyelashes so much.

In other news - I am still working on a rig for Caelith from the animated short (below). It's definitely turning into a potentially powerful and reusable rig. I'll admit that the original inspiration for the short was a Soundgarden song... so, the recent death of Chris Cornell took a lot of wind out of the sails for that project. But the idea has a life of its own, and I'll be posting more updates on that soon. Also, other announcements on the way.

Some quick roughs I did for Caelith. Depending on how rigging goes, I might not have to do cleanup.

ARMSmasters Patreon
March 21, 2017
Hey, I want to give a shout out to an extremely talented animator friend of mine who just launched his Patreon. Michael Winn of Alpha Omega Animation Design has experience in many areas of the animation industry, including studio, freelance, and teaching, and is developing an original property called ARMSmasters. Lots of content has already been produced, from concept sketches to fully colored and produced animation, with more on the way!

Your support could be a great way to get a look at the kind of artwork that goes into animation development, not to mention getting to see more of the cast of ARMSmasters, and Winn's uniquely anatomical drawing skill. Check it out, and spread the word!
Tower Nest Concept
March 19, 2017
Built from the central peak of a large crater, it's part rock, part... alien tree... thing.

Caelith - Concept 3
March 17, 2017
Back design. Simple and symmetric = Easier to animate. Hopefully reads better, too.

Fleshing things out a bit more. Still finalizing her equipment and air board
